Colossians 2:6-7
So we’re saved. We’ve accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we believe He is the Son of God. What next?
Go back to life as usual? Ask God to give us the happiest existence on earth, kill all our enemies and respond to our every demand? After salvation, what next?
Paul tells us here, that there are expectations of us after we get born again. We are to continue to live our lives. . . . in Him. By His standard, in conformity to His will, doing what He says. We are to be rooted and built up in Him.
To go deeper in Him, not easily swayed or confused or deceived. To hold on firm to Him, and what His word says is true. Building speaks of growth and progress. Just as a house is built brick by brick, so our lives in Him must be built truth upon truth. Truth that is found in His word. Peter said as much in 1Peter2:2 (as new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby). We must make progress, learn more, know more, increase in knowledge and faith. Our growth must be measurable too.
And finally we must overflow with thankfulness. Gratitude must flow from our hearts to the Father at all times, in all circumstances.
So now we know, getting saved is just the beginning . . . there’s so much more to discover/do.
Shalom.
