Psalm 78:4

‘. . . we will tell the next generation the praise worthy deeds of the Lord. .

Today is a gentle reminder of our responsibility to God and to the next generation. God desires that we play a more active role in winning our young children to Him.

I’m searching my heart on this one as well, and I know I come up short. Are we leaving too much of the responsibility to the Sunday school teachers? Having taught Sunday school myself, I’d readily admit that alone is inadequate to raise the kind of godly seed the Lord requires.

We will have to live out our faith before these young ones. Daily. We will have to tell them about the great deeds of the Lord, not just in the days of Elijah and Daniel, but also in our lives. We would have to open the curtains on our battles and challenges, so they can watch first hand, as we walk with the Lord and as the Lord brings us great deliverance.

Child experts say children learn better by watching. Its a tough call, but its the Lord’s call. This is not just for parents, but for adults who are in any position to influence children.

I pray the Lord gives us the strength and wisdom for the work, I pray that as we do this that the voice of the Lord will be amplified in the hearts of our children, louder than the voices of Spongebob, Disney fairies and Ben 10.

Shalom

  • This line of thought came to me a few months ago about my children and even though they are young it’s never too early to impact our children with knowledge of God’s word
