Never alone

Romans 8:26-28

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered”. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”.

I am an only child. In the strictest sense of it. I don’t think about it a lot or remember it often. But I am the only offspring of my mother and father.

And yet, I am surrounded on every side. I have a number of step siblings, whom I love very dearly. I also have lots of friends-turned-sisters, who have my back every time, plus a wonderful husband and beautiful children.

And yet when life gets really tough or someone lets me down badly, the devil reminds me – you are alone in this world – no one is really on your side. Of course it’s a big lie, but in my weakest moments, I have swallowed this hook, line and sinker.

Thank God for His word and the truth it brings to our lives!

You see, when God said you are never alone, He did not lie. He is always with you, and within you for the Holy Spirit lives in us. He helps us when we are weak and best of all, He prays for us. How wonderful to hear that! The Holy Spirit, who lives within us and knows us better than anyone else, prays for us!! He goes to the Father on our behalf. How comforting to know that the He will not use my weaknesses against me! And how effective His prayers must be, not restricted by words as we know it, with but deep groanings, too deep for me to understand.

Today I will rest assured knowing that while the devil wants nothing but for me to fail in my Christian walk, the Father wants me to succeed and He’s here to help me succeed! Thank you for the Holy Spirit.

I will never walk alone. The Lord is always with me.

Selah.
