Acts20:35
‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’
I have quoted this scripture for years, without giving much thought to it.
Well, it sure means what it says. Its a bigger blessing when you give than when you get. In plain English, this means I’m more blessed when I give out $10 million than when i receive $10 million!
Selah!
The amplified version says it so beautifully: It’s more blessed(makes one happier and more to be envied)to give than to receive.
I guess this works this way:
When you get something and enjoy it, that’s all the blessing there is to it. To enjoy what you have. But when you give, you not only get the joy(blessing) of bringing joy to someone else, or knowing the good your gift will do, you also get the blessing of a reward.
The reward is always a surprise, actually. You never really know how or when, but giving opens doors for you. Therein lies the reward!
Even if there were no extra rewards for giving, the joy of knowing that you’ve been a blessing to someone else is more than enough.
I pray the Lord puts giving on our hearts as we step out today. May He put giving on our hearts every day!
Amen
