1Kings 17: 1-7

God had asked Elijah to go hide near the Cherith Creek, after declaring a three year drought to King Ahab. While the rest of the nation starved and suffered, the Lord had a plan for his prophet, Elijah. Ravens had been assigned by the Almighty to bring him food rations, twice daily!

Ravens are scavengers, birds of prey and are not known to care for even their young. Yet at the Lords command, they brought food to Elijah! No one knows where the ravens got the bread and meat they supplied Elijah daily from, but we know it had to be the Lord!

I can boldly testify, the Lord still provides for us in the wilderness, in the driest places and during the toughest patches of our lives. He sends provision supernaturally. Comfort from an unlikely source, provision from a stranger, peace that passes all understanding, the gift of unexpected laughter, forgiveness and a second chance, there are numerous ways the Lord helps us through the wilderness.

Just like He provided for the Isrealites in the wilderness with manna and a supernatural compass, the Lord sends help during the hard times. For He promised, ‘when you go through the fire, I will be with you and when you go through the waters, it will not overwhelm you’. I pray that the Lord opens our eyes to see the help He sends us in the tough times. I pray that as we focus on this, our hearts will swell with thanksgiving to the Father, thereby making more grace available.

It is well with the righteous.

Shalom
