The Lord, My Shepherd

“The Lord is my shepherd I lack nothing . .” (Psalm 23:1, NIV)

These are not easy times. For us and for a lot of the people we know. The effects of the slump in crude oil prices continues to bite harder.

The job cuts and uncertainty over how long this cycle will last have bothered us all. The tales of woe are on every continent.

While my family has not had to deal with a job cut directly, a lot of our dear friends have. It is indeed stressful for us all.

I find succor in the promises of God. Psalm 23 is real to me. My strength lies in the assurance that He will always be there for His people; He will make a way in the wilderness, and show us rivers in the desert. No matter how hard and confusing it all may seem now, I KNOW that God is faithful –  He can be trusted! He loves us and He will take care of us.

I also pray that even in this season, the Lord will cause us to bring forth new ideas, new ventures, new thinking. That He cause us to chart new paths, as we move away from the familiar and allow Him to lead us. It will not all be doom and gloom, the Lord will also do a new work in us and through us, in this season.

Say to the righteous – it is well.

Shalom
