John 6: 4-13
This is the story of how Jesus fed the multitude with five loaves of bread and two fish.
There was a problem – the crowd was hungry and needed food. Something had to be done to fix this problem. Phillip brought a complain – “it would take more than half a year’s wages to feed these people”, he cried. I can also understand Phillip’s frustration, I would feel the same way if I were there too. A solution wasn’t even comprehensible, couldn’t be imagined.
That’s the problem with a complain. It looks legitimate, but it never acknowledges the possibility of a solution. Complain drains your energy and your initiative/drive to find a solution. It robs you of an opportunity to think outside the box. Complain is a justification to sit, fold your hands and do nothing! It’s not even a prayer.
Andrew, on the other hand brought something different – a seed! Two men, facing the same situation. Andrew came to Jesus, “Lord, look what I found, the little boy’s lunch, it could never be enough but here it is. . .” The Lord multiplied this and fed a multitude, to the glory of His name.
You see, God can multiply a seed infinity-fold but how does He bless and multiply a complain?
What challenge/impossible situation do you face today? Resist the urge to complain, lay your seed before the Lord, and let Him multiply it for His own glory!
Selah!
