Proverbs21:5

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.’

From this I infer: diligence guarantees the success of your plans. Haste guarantees failure/poverty and misery. Diligence is earnest and persistent application to an undertaking. Its steady effort, assiduity. Its staying consistent and committed.

Haste infers rash or headlong actions, careless and knee jerk reactions. Not carefully thought through, not sticking to it, and not having the patience or maturity to follow through.Diligence implies a stick-to-it-veness that stays with your plans till you strike success. Its an unwillingness to give up, a consistency, steadfastness, commitment to excellence. These will surely lead to profit.

For every thing has its season. The diligent man will not chicken out when he’s in a rough season but will still commit to excellence even when no one else seems to notice. He will surely see profit. For the rough season will surely pass.

But the hasty man has neither the strength nor character to wait through the rough for the favorable season. And thus he never sees his plans prosper.
