James 2:22
‘Prove that your faith is real by what you do.’
We please God by what we do, not just by what we say and believe. Its important we take our faith further, not only believing, but also saying and doing!
Its true that without faith, its impossible to please God, but its also true that the evidence of our faith is our actions.
For a man is pronounced righteous before God, through what he does (acts of obedience in response to Gods word) and not through faith alone (what he believes). James put it so beautifully, what good is it to say that you have faith when you don’t do anything to show that you really have faith. Faith without actions is therefore not real faith.
A dear old testament scripture comes to mind here:
‘For behold, to obey is better than to sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams’ (1Sam15:22)
